Create a profile for a small test directory and first run a trial check. Check what happens to files you delete in the source.

You choose where the copy is stored. That destination has its own access rights and possibly network accounts. Secure external drives with sensitive documents and check who can read a network folder. A backup at a second location does not encrypt data by itself.

The free version has fewer features than paid expenses. Synchronize does not automatically save all previous versions of your files.

A scheduled task may fail if a disk is missing or a network connection is not available. Check notifications and keep recovery history conscious. Do not set a source and destination to do without another trial. Also keep a copy out of immediate reach of errors on your daily PC.

SyncBackFree is useful if you want to copy or synchronize files according to fixed profiles. You can set a recurring task for local, external or appropriate network locations. The most important decision is how the profile deals with changes and removals. A mirror job has consequences other than a copy that leaves older files at the destination.

Pre-determine which loss you want to recover. A second current folder helps other than a reserve in which previous states are preserved. Check the profile rules with an added, modified and deleted file. For a scheduled task, the destination must be accessible on the output moment. Setting up a schedule without looking back at the results gives too little certainty about your reserve.
