You let SyncBackPro or SyncBbackSE access files on another device for backup and synchronization.

SyncBack Touch runs on the device you want to access files from. From SyncBackPro or syncBackSE on your computer you then create the backup or synchronization task. Touch is the connection to the other device, not the place where you design all your tasks.

You can also include files from supported Macs, Linux systems and Android devices in your process. The rights of the device remain decisive for which directories are available. For users of the current SyncBackPro/SE line Touch is included; older licenses may have different terms.

Touch is the component that allows access to files on the other device. The choices about what you copy, when that happens and how you deal with removals are recorded in SyncBack on the management computer. Therefore, install Touch only on devices that should be part of that process.

First, create a small trial task with identifiable files. Then make sure you can restore it from the backup location. Accessibility via the network and access to the right folders are separate conditions: a successful connection does not mean that every file is readable.

Version 1.8.0 (Touch for use with SyncBack V12). Released 31-03-2026. SyncBack Touch supports Encrypted Rapid Transfer with SyncB Back V12. Also, the setting for working under another user account will be retained when you update Touch.

Open the official SyncBack Touch download page and choose the execution for your device.

Our verdict

Touch makes sense especially if you are already working with SyncBack and want to add a second device. You keep the task settings in one place and only have to manage the access service on the other device.

Check in advance which folders the service can actually read and how to protect the connection. A reachable service doesn't mean your backup is complete. Create a small trial backup and restore a file before running the task unsupervised.
