Google Chrome

You can use Chrome for daily internet, web apps and services set up on Chrome. It suits you when you switch a lot between devices. Check your organisation's requirements with specific work software; a widely supported browser does not guarantee that any extension or managed login will work without a setup.

Import your existing bookmarks and see which data you want to synchronize. Install only extensions you actually need.

When you synchronize data to your Google account, it becomes part of your account environment. Check which categories you want to bring. Incognito mainly limits what is stored locally after the session; websites, network administrators and services on which you log in may still receive information about your visit.

Many tabs and extensions can use a lot of memory. Incognito windows do not hide your internet usage from websites or your network administrator.

Downloads and saved bookmarks do not disappear automatically when you close an incognito window. Do not give extensions more access than necessary and remove unused copies. When erasing data, check that your passwords and recovery options are still available, especially when using Chrome on your only device.

Chrome is a widely usable browser that is particularly attractive when you already work with Google services and browser extensions. You can build a trusted environment on multiple devices. Make a conscious distinction between local browsing and linking data to your Google account. The most convenient setting is not the same for everyone, especially on a shared or business computer.

A new browser is only an improvement if your existing web apps and required extensions continue to work properly. Check for shared devices especially which profile is active and what is synchronized. If you want to separate work and private, make that a permanent facility. Installing many additional extensions can complicate that separation by adding additional permissions and account links.
