This edition follows the joint KDE Gear update of September 2026. For this program, the modification list does not contain a separate function improvement compared to 26.08.0. Your existing method will be maintained; availability of the package depends on your Linux distribution or KDE installation channel.

Our verdict

Calligra is especially interesting when you already work with KDE and use OpenDocument files. The package can then connect to an existing Linux work environment without needing a web service for each task. You keep your documents in ordinary local files.

For exchange with an organization that relies heavily on Microsoft Office, we would first check representative documents. A simple letter sets requirements other than a spreadsheet with complex calculations or a presentation with special fonts. Choose Calligra when the parts you need connect properly. The number of apps included is less important than the reliability of your daily document exchange.
