Who is it for?
You use Kid3 if you want to clean up a local music collection and determine exactly which tags are written. It fits both albums and audiobooks.
Getting started
Download the package for your platform and open a copy of a music folder. First select your desired tag and naming settings before changing massively.
Privacy
Manual tag happens locally. When you import data from MusicBrainz, Discogs or any other source, requests are sent to that service.
Good to know
Not every audio format uses the same tag fields. Check the result in the player on which you will actually listen to the music.
Please note
Work on a copy of one album first. Check track order, album artist and tag version before applying the same operation to an entire collection.

Our verdict
Kid3 is suitable if you want control over the metadata of your music. It works best with a fixed naming rule and careful checking per album.
The app is especially useful when the music itself is good, but titles, artists or albumin sharing are not correct. Speak a consistent fill-in and name line with yourself before changing entire folders. Check the result in your regular player. Additional identification may be required for a set without usable recognition data. Kid3 gives control over metadata, but a completed field still has to fit in with the correct recording.
