Kalzium shows the periodic table and information on chemical elements. You can compare properties and use different views to see connections. This makes it useful as a reference next to a textbook or in preparing explanations.

Not every feature shown is the same under all circumstances. Note units and the meaning of a value. The program helps in learning and comparing, but is not a safety instruction for carrying out chemical tests.

Getting started

Install Kalzium via your Linux package management and view the different views of the periodic table.

Privacy

You can consult elemental information locally. Any external links open separate websites.

This edition follows the joint KDE Gear update of September 2026. For this program, the modification list does not contain a separate function improvement compared to 26.08.0. Your existing method will be maintained; availability of the package depends on your Linux distribution or KDE installation channel.

Our verdict

Kalzium is a useful reference tool if you want to better understand the periodic table. You can view properties of elements next to each other and therefore recognize patterns that are less noticeable in a separate table. This has added value, especially in conjunction with a specific lesson question.

The program is less suitable if you expect it to offer a complete learning course on its own. Use your teaching material for the explanation and Kalzium to compare data or explore a concept. Check units carefully. For testing, separate safety instructions remain necessary; a set of element data does not automatically tell you how to handle substances.
