You set sources, filters, destinations and timetables for each task. Cobian Reflector is focused on files, not on recovering a complete Windows installation as disk image. The execution can be set up as a background process; the account permissions used must give access to the source and destination.

The developer announced 2.7.20 as the last update of Reflector. You can still download the app, but you have to consider that terminated development in a new facility. The older Cobian Backup editions and Reflector are also different programs.

Who is it for?

You know file backups and want to manage an existing or simple task carefully. For a completely new backup plan, the completed development is an important disadvantage.

Getting started

Use the official Reflector download and check the required .NET Framework. First, set up a small task with the account under which it automatically runs later.

Privacy

Compression, encryption and transport are separate choices. An ordinary FTP connection is not the same as an encrypted connection. Save required passwords and check the permissions of the background process.

Good to know

Reflector is freeware, but no longer in development. It creates file backups and no complete recovery image from Windows.

Please note

There will be no new Reflector updates. Check the operation on your current Windows system and do not build an essential recovery plan without an independent reserve and a recovery trial.

The latest Reflector update fixes a copy error with special folder features.

Copy to an existing destination with System features and Hidden is restored. The Bulgarian translation has been updated. The developer announced this release as the last update of Reflector.

Our verdict

Cobian Reflector can still be useful for a well-known file mode, but is not the obvious first choice for a new plan. The last edition has been explicitly announced as an end point. This means that future Windows or network changes are not automatically captured by a new version.

Use it only when you can check selection, execution and recovery yourself. For important new tasks, actively maintained software is preferable. If you already have archives from Cobian, keep the corresponding settings and access while preparing a possible switch.
