Looking for an alternative to Cobian DiskProfiler?Compare Filelight, SpaceObServer, WinDirStat, WizTree.Compare alternativesCobian DiskProfiler analyzes the contents of disks and folders on Windows and Linux. You can see where large amounts of data or a lot of loose files are.
The app helps to choose cleanup work, but does not determine which files you can safely delete. Check system folders and backups separately.

A storage overview shows where space goes, but doesn't say which files can be safely removed. Start with your own downloads, old exports and duplicate project copies. Examine system and program folders before deleting anything there.
Check if the scan could read all desired locations. Failed permissions or unconnected disks can make the image incomplete. For a cleanup operation, store important data elsewhere and then compare whether the expected space has been released.

Check with a space analysis whether you want to find large folders, use a visual block map or need historical reports. Review found files before deleting them: A large system folder is not automatically redundant. Access and file system also determine which information is available.

Our verdict
DiskProfiler is useful when a disk fills up without any obvious cause. First, look at the biggest folders and wonder which app it manages. Do not delete a database or system folder just because it is large. For recurring growth, it makes more sense to investigate the triggering app than to always remove the same files.
