Who is it for?
This helps with a full Windows drive and planning archiving. It fits with quick inventory of large files. To remove installed programs, use the normal deinstallation. Check the license if you want to use WizTree out of private use.
Getting started
Scan the desired disk and sort by size. Open the file location and check the contents before deleting anything.
Privacy
A disk overview can show project names, customers and personal folders. Check a screenshot or CSV export before sharing it. Use enhanced access only when necessary for your investigation. More insight into a disk also means that data from other users can become visible.
Good to know
Do not delete any unknown system files just because they are large. Other license terms may apply for business use.
Please note
File size and actually used space may differ. WizTree takes hard links into account at NTFS, but you still have to understand which column you're looking at. Do not delete a file only based on size or old age. Also check synchronization behavior with cloud folders.

You can better exchange CSV files from WizTree's new Mac release. Copying and cutting while renaming works again.
- When importing and exporting, double quote file names from macOS are correctly processed.
- WizTree recognizes the root directory / from a macOS export. This allows you to open such an overview in the Windows version.
- The start screen shows more clearly that you can begin scanning. Missing translations have been completed.
- Version 4.33 is the Windows release; the separate Mac release is called WizTreeMac 1.00.

Our verdict
WizTree is useful if you want to see where your disk space is going. On NTFS, it uses the file table to inventory the contents. The visual distribution helps to find large files. Do not create an automatic cleaning list: the largest files are not necessarily redundant and deleting a system folder can cause more problems than space.
Choose WizTree to investigate the cause of space use and act accordingly. In addition to size, check the path and space assigned. For old own downloads, this can provide immediate useful choices. For system and program folders you first need to understand their function; the visual format of a block does not tell what can safely disappear.
