Backup4all lets you configure backup jobs with sources, a destination and a schedule. Options such as backup types and cloud connections vary by edition.

A backup job is only useful if you can restore your files. Check the logs, retention period and access to the destination.

Choose your backup destination based on recovery and availability, not just free space. A copy on the same physical drive does not protect against that drive failing. Decide how long older versions should be kept.

Regularly test restoring a few files. A job completing without an error does not prove that you selected the right folders. With cloud storage, consider the connection, account access and any storage charges.

Compare Backup4all with alternatives

When you file backup, look for planning, version retention and the way you restore loose files. Some apps make ordinary copies, others use archives. This determines whether you need the same app for recovery and how much protection you have against an overwritten file.

Our verdict

Backup4all fits if you want more control than just copying a folder. Choose a storage policy that holds previous versions long enough and test recovery to another folder. Check after changes in passwords whether cloud permissions or tasks are still successful. A green icon does not replace a periodic recovery test.
