AdGuard VPN runs network traffic through the provider's servers. You can choose a location and set exceptions for apps or websites. The free version has a traffic limit; for more intensive use a paid subscription is required.

A VPN does not change what information you provide to websites yourself. If you log in to an account, that service will continue to recognize you. The VPN app and AdGuard Ad Blocker also have different tasks: a tunnel encrypts traffic, while advertising filtering is trying to block ads and trackers.

A VPN moves the point where your traffic enters the public internet to the chosen VPN server. This can be useful on a shared network or when you want to use another location. The speed depends on distance, server load and your own connection.

Check which apps or websites leave you outside the tunnel. This can keep local services accessible, but also means that these connections are handled differently. A VPN does not change any information that you share in a logged-in account and does not replace a check of suspicious downloads.

Our verdict

AdGuard VPN can help when you want to protect traffic on a shared network or need another server location. The exceptions are useful for apps that should continue to work directly with your local network.

Especially look at connection behaviour, data limit and device support. A VPN is not a replacement for current software, strong logins or careful sharing of personal data. Also check that local printers and services are accessible with your settings. Only combine security products if their network filters are not in each other's way.
