Proton VPN is an option if you want your internet connection to run via a VPN service. There are free and paid options with different choices. In particular, assess which connection and functions you need. A VPN can protect your traffic on a local network, but does not make you unrecognizable for websites where you login or leave data.
Make your choice on the connections and devices you actually use, not on the idea of complete anonymity. Check the conditions and possibilities of the release you want to use. Also try local network access and your regular web tasks. A VPN that fits for one purpose doesn't need to provide the most pleasant device for every app on your computer.
