Looking for an alternative to AdGuard?Compare AdGuard-browserextensie, Malwarebytes Browser Guard.Compare alternativesAdGuard for Windows filters network traffic and unwanted web content. The desktop app has a different range than just a browser extension and offers settings for different apps. You can use filter lists and make exceptions for websites that are not working properly.
HTTPS filtering can work with a locally trusted certificate. This is a more profound setting than a simple content block in your browser. The desktop app has been paid; the free extensions and other AdGuard products are separate versions.
Compare AdGuard with alternatives
Compare whether you only want to protect your browser or other apps on your device. A browser extension works within the browser; a system filter can intervene more widely. Strict blocking can disrupt parts of websites, so see how you manage exceptions.

Our verdict
AdGuard for Windows is especially useful if you want filtering in more places than one browser. You manage rules and exceptions in a central app, which can be convenient on a multiple browser computer. The downside is that the app intervenes more deeply in network traffic.
Therefore, do not automatically choose all available options. Start with the features you need and check that your fixed websites, banking environment and other apps continue to work properly. Anyone who only wants to limit advertisements in one browser may have enough use of an extension. The desktop app better suits users who deliberately want wider filtering and associated management.
