An endurance test may reveal instability when several components are active simultaneously. Before starting, check cooling, feeding and free storage. Do not let the computer work unattended during a first trial.
Capture the components and test duration you use. An error message requires further investigation, but does not always point directly to one defective component. Nor does a successful test prove that any possible load or peripheral equipment will work smoothly.
Version and updates
For BurnInTest, check the version number of the release you are actually installing. The versions for Windows, Linux do not have to run the same.
Compare BurnInTest with alternatives
For a stability study, you need different information than for a performance comparison. A stress test load components are long-lasting, while a benchmark provides a score for a given test. Follow temperatures and use the correct component test; a single successful run does not exclude every hardware problem.

You will get corrections for log files and hardware detection in the Windows version. Use your USB20G test equipment, check the firmware.
- A possible crash while generating log files has been fixed.
- Reading PIIX4 SMBIOS ports is disabled because this could cause problems with Windows drivers.
- The USB20G interface now uses the Windows USB driver and requires firmware 1.5 or newer.
- ATA device names with an inverted byte order are correctly processed.

BurnInTest is suitable for systematic testing after assembly or repair. First determine which parts you want to check and keep the report with that configuration. A flawless session is not a guarantee of unlimited life. Combine the load test with the original error and check that it returns under the same conditions.
