The design differs from a traditionally large spreadsheet grid. That can be nice for clear presentations of data, but requires familiarity when you come from Excel. Not every Excel function or automation stays the same with conversion. Premium content and certain new features can be part of Apple Creator Studio.

You can freely place tables and graphs in a worksheet. This works nicely for a clear housekeeping booklet or a presentation of calculations, but requires a different layout than one large continuous spreadsheet. Give tables clear names and keep input separate from calculated outcomes.
When exchanging with Excel, check that formulas and formatting are maintained. In particular, more complex functions or special worksheet layouts deserve a test. Save an original copy before importing or exporting, so you can compare differences and not lose work.
Version and updates
The versions for Mac, iPhone and iPad may differ. Check the available update in the App Store on the device you work on. The iCloud web version is updated as a service and does not have a separate installation package.
Compare Numbers with alternatives
Compare spreadsheet software with a copy of your own worksheet: determine formulas, diagrams, import and export whether switching is feasible. A beautiful template says little about compatibility with large or complex Excel files. Also check if your existing macros are supported.

Our verdict
Numbers fits well with personal overviews and worksheets that you also want to present clearly. You can put calculations and explanations together without having to be in one continuous grid. For simple household or project overviews, this can work nicely.
Always check formulas, dates and totals when imported. A file that opens without an error message can still have a different outcome or format. If you work with complicated Excel models or macros, then first assess whether Numbers is suitable for this. Save an original copy before converting.
