With a longer document, consistent paragraph styles and page settings help to keep changes manageable. You then adjust a style instead of resetting the same format in dozens of places. Images and text sources should be organised as part of the same project.
Check a publication before exporting for missing links, fonts and text outside a box. Also save the editable files. A good-looking PDF on your screen is not automatically suitable for any printing mode; align the output settings to the target.

Version 21.6. InDesign 21.6 updates the rendering engine and clarifies help text when searching for shortcuts. Also, a crash that could occur when closing a Flex Layout warning was fixed.

Our verdict
InDesign makes sense when making publications in which formatting over many pages should remain the same. Well-set styles save more work than adjust each header and paragraph manually. The program fits less well with a quick loose letter.
Start with the requirements of the printer or the digital end format. Then check text overflow, missing files and fonts before exporting. For accessible documents you also have to assess the structure; a beautiful page is not automatically pleasant to use with a screen reader. Save a complete project package for later corrections.
