Tabs and chords can help you pick up a song, but the quality and arrangements differ. Compare the notation with what you hear and check mood, capo and key. A simplified version may differ from the original recording.

Choose training tools based on what you want to learn and check which features have been paid for. Play difficult passages first slowly and in short pieces. A found tab is a tool, no guarantee for error-free transcription.

Version and updates

For Ultimate Guitar check the version number of the release you are actually installing. The versions for Android, iOS, Web do not have to run the same.

Our verdict

Ultimate Guitar is useful if you want to learn a familiar song and find a suitable match. Compare multiple arrangements and listen to the recording to check rhythm and chord choice. Start slowly with a metronome. A tab doesn't automatically show all the timing and playing technique, so use your hearing next to the notation.
