Tenacity is an open source audio editor created by Audacity. You can record voice or music, move fragments and apply effects. For example, several tracks help you combine a spoken explanation with music.

You save an editable project while you're still working on the assembly, and only then export an audio file to share. An exported MP3 no longer contains the same editing capabilities as your project. The available codecs are related to included or additional parts.

You get the first stable 1.3.5 release with more extensive Windows support and updated parts.

Tenacity 1.3.5 adds native ASIO and Windows ARM64 support among others. FFmpeg and other dependencies have also been updated and a crash around spectrograms has been corrected.

Tenacity is a useful choice if you mainly want to record and mount audio. You get enough tools to clean up a spoken recording, shorten silences and merge multiple sources. This makes him suitable for explanation, interviews and simple productions.

The main gain comes from careful recording and quiet assembly. Don't start with many effects: first check the volume and listen to disturbing sounds. Always save an raw recording and a project file. Then you can reverse choices without having to re-record. For extensive compositions with MIDI instruments, a sequencer is a better starting point.
