QCTols shows measurement values over frames and lets you compare your image via different filters. You can look at anomalies such as out-of-range values or repeated lines.

The graphs help find places that require attention. You have to judge the images yourself afterwards; an outlier is not always a mistake.

Charts can make deviations visible that you easily miss when playing normally. Use them to find interesting moments and then view them in the image. An outlier can be a real mistake, but it can also fit with a conscious transition or a special shot.

Specify which analysis settings you use. This allows you to compare different files or a new digitization more fairly. QCTols supports quality research; it does not automatically repair the source material.

Our verdict

QCTols is valuable when checking digitized tapes or archive video. Use graphs to look more closely and compare suspicious frames with the surrounding images. An artistic effect can give the same measurement peak as an error. For installation or recovery you therefore need other software.
