Looking for an alternative to Process Lasso?Compare ParkControl, CoreDirector, CPUBalance.Compare alternativesProcess Lasso lets you create rules for process priority, processor affinity and other features of running programs. ProBalance tries to maintain its responsiveness when processes burden the processor heavily. You can also focus on how a specific program should behave.
The program does not replace faster hardware and does not resolve a lack of memory or a defective disk. Change rules only when you know what problem you want to tackle. Paid features extend the possibilities of free execution.
Compare Process Lasso with alternatives
Compare these utilities on the policies you want to change: process priority, processor binding or energy behaviour. Those are not general repairs for slow software. Keep a change small and reversible, so you can see whether your app really benefits from it.
| Software | What can it do? | Platform and licence |
|---|---|---|
| Process LassoYou are viewing this app | You manage procedural priorities, affinity and automatic behaviour in tax. You can set rules for specific apps. | WindowsFreemium |
| ParkControlView this alternative | You modify supported Windows settings for core parking and energy behavior. That focuses on processor policy, not on optimizing files or storage. | WindowsFreemium |
| CoreDirectorView this alternative | You send to supported hybrid processors how apps use certain types of cores. The relevance depends on your processor and workload. | WindowsFree to use |
| CPUBalanceView this alternative | You use a targeted background tool that manages process load with ProBalance rules. This is a more limited approach than the entire Process Lasso interface. | WindowsFreemium |

Our verdict
Process Lasso is especially interesting if you want to tackle a recognizable problem with processor load. A targeted line for one program can be more useful than manually changing a setting in Task Manager. The added value is in control and reproducibility.
Don't use it as a set of general gear tricks. Another priority does not automatically make a task more efficient and can hinder other programmes. First leave the standard operation untouched and only change something when you can compare the effect. For a computer that normally works smoothly, additional process management is often not necessary. With specific heavy workloads, it can be a useful tool.
