Hybrid processors combine different types of nuclei. A targeted process setting may be useful when a specific app is unplanned, but requires knowledge of the process you want to influence. The limitation does not automatically apply to each part of a larger software package.
Start with one demonstrable problem and measure the result. If you allow too many programs to use the same cores, there could be more competition. Keep in mind background tasks and restore the default setting when the app does not respond better.

Our verdict
CoreDirector can be useful if a particular app is demonstrably poorly dealing with the core distribution of your processor. You can make a targeted exception without changing all kinds of other system settings immediately. For normal use, Windows usually does the partition itself.
Start with the least profound method and measure both response time and total processing time. An app that reacts faster can still finish a long calculation slower with less available cores. Remove the rule when a program update solves the problem or if you cannot fix an improvement.
