Who is it for?
This is useful for family photos, collages and images for mail or social media. It suits you if you like to use visual effects. For extensive low compositions or a technically managed RAW development, another editor may be better suited.
Getting started
Save your custom photos in a separate folder. First check one example for a series, so that size and quality fit your target.
Privacy
Photographs may contain EXIF and GPS data. Check what the export stores before sharing images online. In collages, pay attention to information that is visible in the background of a photo. A cut-out can shift the focus, but does not automatically delete all metadata.

Not all tools are part of the free edition. Windows and macOS can have different versions and paid features.

The free release and Pro do not have the same possibilities. Check that the chosen effect or tool belongs to your release before making a project dependent on it. Save originals and avoid unnecessary repeated saving as JPEG. Available languages differ; do not rely on a Dutch interface.

Our verdict
PhotoScape X is especially suitable if you want to modify, combine or prepare photos in groups. You can make cuttings, collages and serial operations. The functions are divided into different parts. Choose from your job: creating a collage requires a different approach than bringing an entire photomap to equal sizes.
The app fits especially with defined tasks around photo sharing, such as a collage or a series of equal sizes. Check which options are available per required module. Work for batches with a separate output folder. For precise individual RAW development or complex low compositions, the required operation must outweigh the amount of different photo functions.
