This is helpful if you use private and work email from different providers or like to work with local folders. It fits with extensive mail management. If your organization requires specific functions from another mail environment, check them before you switch.

Thunderbird blocks external content in messages by default, such as remotely retrieved images. That can prevent a sender from distracting your reading moment via such a request. Make exceptions aware. Your mail provider and the security of your local profile also remain relevant; another client does not automatically encrypt ordinary email end-to-end.

Thunderbird is suitable if you want to manage multiple mailboxes from one desktop program. You keep messages, folders and account settings together without opening a separate browser window for each provider. The main choice is how your messages are stored locally and on the server. Therefore, first understand the difference between synchronizing and an independent mail copy.

The switch is especially useful if you really want to manage the different accounts and folders from one place. Also check sending, the sent folder and offline behavior, not just the incoming mail. For an archive, it must be clear which data is stored independently. A profile copy before major changes gives a way back that is separate from the visible mailbox.
