Who is it for?
You use CherryTree when you like to work with a fixed subject tree and want more formatting than a simple text note. It is mainly a personal reference work.
Getting started
Install the appropriate execution and create a new document in a fixed folder. Set your storage and backup preferences before adding a lot of notes.
Privacy
You can save notes locally. If you choose a secure document format, you have to manage the password yourself. Exports and attachments stored separately deserve the same protection.
Good to know
A large document with many attachments could be difficult. Regularly save a separate copy of your archive and test the exports you want to use for transfer.
Please note
Save an extra copy before converting a large document to another storage form. Open embedded files only if you know where they come from.

On Windows you can better paste web content with WebP images. Also errors in embedded files, list indentation and word selection have been solved.

CherryTree is suitable for a structured personal reference work with mixed content. A clear tree and a tested export strategy prevent your archive from being difficult to manage.
The tree structure fits information with a recognizable hierarchy, such as a manual with topics and detail notes. For many cross-links, you have to assess whether that order remains clear. Check an export with text, images and attachments before transferring a large archive. The success depends not only on being able to import, but also on your ability to read back the content later outside the original device.
