Tor VPN is an Android app in beta. You can connect multiple apps via Tor without only working within Tor Browser.

The name does not mean that all properties of a regular commercial VPN are the same. Apps can still disclose your identity via accounts or own data.

Traffic via Tor can react slower than a normal Internet connection. Choose which apps you want to use with it and check that those apps continue to work as expected. Not every network function fits the same connection mode.

Treat an experimental execution as such and check the current project status. The name VPN does not mean that the operation is equal to any commercial VPN service. Logins and data that you share remain a separate privacy choice.

Our verdict

Tor VPN is interesting if you want to explore Tor outside only the browser. Start with non-critical usage and check which apps actually run through the connection. The Tor network can be noticeably slower. For sensitive situations, not only trust the app name, but read the limitations of the beta and your used apps.
