RealityScan reconstructs objects and environments from images. The desktop software processes photographs into a model; the mobile app has its own capture and processing workflow.

Quality depends heavily on image overlap, sharpness and the surface being captured. Reflective or transparent objects need extra care. Desktop and mobile version numbers differ.

A useful photogrammetry model starts with the photographs. Make sure there is enough overlap, the images are sharp and the subject is visible from several angles. Shiny, transparent or largely featureless surfaces are harder to reconstruct.

Check the model for holes and distortions before using it further. If an object needs to be used at its actual size, you also need a reliable scale. Keep the original photographs so you can process them again or choose a different set later.

Version 2.2 (desktop). Released on 24-06-2026. RealityScan 2.2 adds support for AMD GPUs, including RDNA 4 and Ryzen AI Max on Windows. This version number applies to the desktop software; RealityScan Mobile has a separate release series.

RealityScan is useful if you want to bring a real object to a 3D project. Start with a matt object and even light, so you get to know the recording method. A beautiful model does not guarantee that glass or shiny metal works equally well. Take into account post-processing and control of scale.
