NVCleanstall can modify an existing driver package or download required files. You choose components and can save a custom package for later.

Remove only parts of which you understand the function. Sound via HDMI, laptop functions or other hardware capabilities may depend on a component.

A custom driver package gives you more choice of included parts. First check which functions you use, such as audio via the monitor or specific NVIDIA components. Less parts is only useful if you leave out nothing necessary.

Save a working installation package or recovery option before changing. Afterwards check resolution, multiple screens and the apps for which you use the GPU. The version number of NVCleanstall is separate from the chosen NVIDIA driver.

Our verdict

NVCleanstall fits if you deliberately want to create a limited NVIDIA installation. First save a fully functioning driver package as recovery option. After installation check image, sound and sleep mode. Less parts is not automatically better when you are using a function that you have left out.
