ImageGlass is first and foremost a photo viewer. You browse a folder, zoom in on details and use a slideshow to view a series of images. The software supports various formats including WebP, SVG, HEIC, AVIF and different raw files.

You can perform simple operations, such as turning, mirroring, cutting and shrinking. Color management, metadata and additional codecs also make the viewer useful if you want to check how a file is displayed. For deep retouching or a complete raw development workflow, a specialized photo editor is more suitable.

Version 10 also has downloads for macOS and Linux. Pay close attention to the difference between Classic and Pro: Classic is free under the GPLv3 license, while Pro has own paid licenses. Compare the edition and not just the product logo when choosing features or installation packages.

Who is it for?

You regularly view different image formats and want more control than a simple standard viewer. You also want to be able to make small corrections without opening a full editor immediately.

Getting started

Open the official download page and choose your edition, operating system and processor. After installation check the file links, so that only the desired image formats open in ImageGlass by default.

Privacy

You open local image files. Metadata may contain names, locations and camera information; check them before sharing. Online updates and any license activation are separate from viewing a local folder.

Good to know

Classic and Pro differ in license and capabilities. The Mac release of version 10 requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or newer.

Our verdict

ImageGlass is a good candidate when you want to quickly browse files and check details. The additional tools sometimes save you a separate editor, but the viewer remains the starting point. Before installation see which edition offers the functions you need. For a regular photo folder, free Classic is a different offer than a Pro license for more extensive wishes.
