GeoGebra Classic

This is useful in geometry, functions, algebra and making interactive teaching materials. Classic is especially interesting when you need multiple views and author functions. Always check which tools you can use for a test or exam; the presence of a calculation function does not allow it to be used in any situation.

Start with one simple function or construction from your lesson. Change a value and try to explain in words what you see.

You can create local constructions with the desktop environment. Once you save or publish material online, you need to check visibility and account information. Do not use unnecessary names of students in shared text files. A public worksheet can be viewed or distributed further than the class you made it for.

A signed example is not automatically a proof. Check which GeoGebra edition and functions your school expects.

A convincing graph is not proof of any mathematical pronunciation. Scale, window range and rounding can affect your interpretation. Also check the license when you want to use material commercially. Save a local copy of work that you want to modify later.

GeoGebra Classic is strong when you want to view mathematical objects in several ways. For example, you can connect an algebraic equation to a figure or graph. It allows you to investigate what changes when you shift a value. The learning value is in explaining that connection, not just in making a correct answer appear.

Use the app as a tool for a question you want to examine, for example how a parameter changes a graph. First select one or two related views. Can you explain afterwards why the image changes, then visualization adds something. A worksheet that only produces an answer helps less when you have to learn the underlying reasoning.
