Privacy
Personal messages and calls remain encrypted on linked devices end-to-end. That doesn't stop someone from going through an unlocked computer. Remove unknown or unused links from your phone. Make a distinction between message content and other account data processed by the service.

The available features may differ between the desktop app and web version. You need a WhatsApp account to use the app.

Do not connect a device via a QR code that someone sends you unexpectedly. Always check that you use the official coupling function for your own device. A desktop copy does not necessarily contain your entire historical archive. Review transfer and backup before replacing your primary phone.

WhatsApp on your computer is useful if you want to use existing conversations with a larger screen and keyboard. You link the app to your primary phone account. The added value is in easier typing, calling and sharing files. An additional device is an additional access point to your conversations at the same time, so do not treat the link as an insignificant shortcut.
The desktop app is especially useful if you want to track existing conversations next to your work or type a lot. On a shared computer, device coupling and visible messages weigh heavier. Check the linked devices on your phone and choose knowingly to show some notifications. A large file list on your computer makes sharing easier, but also requires attention for the right attachment and receiver.
