Webcamoid 9.4.0 adds local HTTP streaming and basic RTMP streaming. You can combine multiple audio inputs with separate volumes. A media gallery and simple quality profiles have also been added.

Our verdict

Webcamoid is especially interesting if you don't just want to save a screen video, but want to do something with the video source before it gets into another app. Effects and output routes give you opportunities for demonstrations and webcam usage. That is the obvious added value over a minimum recorder.

The downside is that your source and destination need to be understood. Test with an insignificant image and check that audio and network output are as intended. For an ordinary short screen shot, the app can be too extensive. If you just need a virtual camera or targeted streaming route, Webcamoid provides relevant tools to set it up.
