Our verdict
Slimjet may seem attractive due to the extra operation and the portable package, but the browser engine weighs more than those extras for us. After all, you also use a browser for email, payments and documents. A current level of security is a basic condition for this.
Therefore, look at Slimjet as an additional browser and check the Chromium base before choosing it as a fixed browser. A portable package is useful for a separate establishment, but does not in itself constitute security. If you want to spend little time on browser maintenance, an alternative with faster engine updates is preferable.
