kitty is a terminal emulator for Linux and macOS. You can assign multiple terminal windows and use tools for example images, differences and Unicode input.

The terminal executes your shell and commands; it does not replace the knowledge of those commands. Configuration is largely done via text files.

Do not copy commands without understanding which path or file they are hitting. Fonts and color settings can improve readability, but do not change the operation of a command. Remote management is also subject to the rights of the account you connect to.

Our verdict

kitty fits when you work a lot in the terminal and want more control over layout and operation. Start with your existing shell and adjust keyboard shortcuts gradually. Test special display functions also via SSH: not every external program understands the same terminal features. For occasional one command, the standard terminal is often sufficient.
