GOG Galaxy

This is useful if you have games scattered across multiple stores and want one overview. It is also useful for GOG updates and supported online features. If you only want to install a few GOG games locally, you can check whether the single installers are enough for you.

Sign in to your GOG account and install one game first. Only add external links if you actually use them.

A library link connects data from accounts and services. Check that integration is official or maintained by the community and what access it requires. Disconnect services you no longer use. Your profile and game activity can also have their own visibility settings, regardless of the local installation of a game.

Links with other services can change or fail. The free launcher does not make paid games for free.

Integration may stop working when another provider changes its registration or service. A recorded game is not automatically owned within GOG. Save account access from the original store and check cloud saves before transferring local progress.

GOG Galaxy is interesting if you want to manage your GOG games and bring libraries from other platforms together. The overview doesn't mean you can remove all the other launchers. Installing and starting may still depend on the original service. For GOG games, separate offline installers remain an important option when you want to be less dependent on the client.

Choose the client if the central overview helps you, but include the remaining accounts and launchers. If installing independently is important to you, look at the available offline installers by GOG title and keep them recognizable. A library listing of another platform does not produce the same independent installation. That distinction prevents wrong expectations when used without connection.
