For cloning from a bootable environment, choose source and target disk carefully: the target can be overwritten. Compare the interface and support for your file system and hardware. A disk copy and a collection of historical file backups solve various recovery problems. If you want to recover a Linux system after a wrong change, you can use system snapshots or disk images. - The Linux kernel has been updated to 7.1.13-1 and Partclone to 0.3.50, including a solution for a Btrfs problem.

Our verdict
Clonezilla is suitable for a defined disk task where you understand the storage format. The freedom of choice is valuable, but does not make it the simplest entry for every home user. If you want to work mainly with a graphic overview, that preference is a legitimate decision-making point.
Check in advance which source and destination you need and whether there is sufficient capacity. Save an independent copy before you overwrite a target. For regularly recovering an older document version, a file backup program is more direct; for offline disk copies the power lies here.
